Gonioryctus species are large,
4.0-10.0 mm, with the majority ~7 mm. They are diverse morophologically
and ecologically. David Sharp, in the Fauna Hawaiiensis, called Gonioryctus "the
perfect insect". By this he meant that their adult stage is
extremely short. Specimens are often collected at lights at dusk in
pairs of 1 male and 1 female. They are also found in wood, under bark,
in rotting vegetation, and in fresh flowers.
