Eunitidula Sharp, 1908 Click on thumbnails to view higher resolution photos. David Sharp (1908) described a single species from East Maui in the genus Eunitidula. There are a number of additional undescribed species that closely resemble it on Molokai, Lanai, and West Maui. There is also a species on Oahu that is halfway between the Maui Nui species and typical Gonioryctus from Oahu. They are distinguished by an elongate pronotum that is constricted and sinuate behind, by the lack of seate and punctation, and their highly shining and black appearance. They are exclusively associated with Cheirodendron and are closely related to Goniothorax species. |
